Katharine Mac Daid was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and grew up in the Middle East, America, Northern Ireland, and England. After completing her MA in Photography at the Royal College of Art in London, she moved back to Oman to make the project Of Calling Shapes and Beckoning Shadows. Mac Daid then spent time working in Alaska and published her first book, The Fireweed Turns. Katharine is currently working on a long-term project in Northern Ireland, Through which known and strange things pass, in which she continues to seek out her Irish identity, alongside an ongoing portrait series, My Mother, Kate.
